SUPERIOR DENTAL CARE

Superior Dental Care In Teton Valley

Getting superior dental care begins with the people who are doing the hands on work, starting with the Dentist. Dr. Tristan Taylor, DDS received his dental education from the University of Oklahoma, with a very high rank and user rating.

You will find two kinds of initials after a dentists name; either DDS or DMD. There is no real difference between the two because the degree and education are the same. Some dental schools award the DDS, whiles others award the DMD Degree. DDS stands for Doctor of Dental Surgery and DMD stands for Doctor of Dental Medicine.

Dentists Are Doctors

It is during schooling that dentists learn their skills. Some may choose to specialize beyond general dentistry to offer additional services. Once the DDS or DMD degree is earned, then experience is always important to consider. There is nothing that can increase a dentist’s ability to use his skills more than real life practice.

Many dentists start their careers working for an existing practice. It is like a second education. To learn from a successful dental practice can be invaluable experience. Plus, wouldn’t you rather have your dentist get his practice on others rather than you?

Some dentists are more entrepreneurial than others and want to open or own their practice. The investment is considerable, with the average cost to open a practice between $150,000-$300,000. But this demonstrates a commitment to their chosen profession. The question to answer is what was their dental experience previous to starting their own dental office.

There are always exceptions to the rule, but like most businesses, an owner is more likely to perform superior dental care than a non-owner. One exception might be a dentist who is nearing retirement or simply not passionate about his practice any longer. But prior experience should always be weighed in choosing superior dental care.

Supporting Staff

Every dentist needs assistance in their office. A well run practice will offer services from a certified dental hygienist. A dental hygienist has completed additional schooling at an associate’s degree level to practice in a private practice. A bachelor’s or master’s degree is possible for research.

There is also the need for full service dental assistants, which requires less education and training than hygienists. These special staff members keep the patient as comfortable as possible during their treatment.

Again, experience is a valuable consideration. Also their ability to relate to people on a personal level is important since they probably spend the most amount of time interacting with patients.

Other office staff include administrative positions like appointment setting, payment and insurance help, and front office management. Many of these duties will be performed by dental assistants.

Superior Dental Care Equipment

Next in importance to the doctor and staff  is the equipment the practice uses for the dental services it offers. Technology advances at such a fast pace that new, time saving, and higher quality services are being introduced all the time. A dental practice that keeps up with these advances can offer better services simply because they have the equipment to do it.

Some of the more recent technologies include CAD/CAM Dentistry, Laser Dentistry, Air-Abrasion, Digital X-rays, and Sedation Dentistry.

Building and Location

Finally, the physical facility and its location is considered by many people to be part of the reason they will consider whether a dentist offers superior dental care. The environment should be pleasing to the senses, offer conveniences like water, wi-fi service, comfortable seating, and easy access.

Locations that offer plenty of parking, are easy find and get to, and on the way to other services like grocery stores or the post office can make it more convenient for patients. These days, it’s also important for someone to easily program the dental office location into their smart phone for driving directions.

As an example, people who want to get to Mountain River Dental in Teton Valley Idaho can simply ask Siri for directions on their iPhone and get instant, detailed directions right to the front entrance. This is expected today from any practice that wants to be known for superior dental care.
